Message from the President

Christine DavlinNovember. Just mentioning the month leads one to think of so many things - giving thanks, turkeys, pumpkins, family, holidays and almost the end of year! I am sure you have your own thoughts that come to mind.
At our October meeting, Joanne Hartke (Director, Florida Institute of Government FGCU) shared what organizations are looking for in a trainer, and how to gain that “competitive edge.” The presentation was interactive and led to some good and open discussion!

This month we are taking a field trip to visit Florida SouthWestern State College (Lee Campus)! This session will provide an overview of several learning technologies utilized by FSW faculty and instructional designers to develop online and face-to-face courses and professional development programs. The Division of Teaching Innovation, Faculty Development, and Online Learning at FSW will also provide participants with a summary of all applications for future reference. The meeting has been extended by 30 minutes to allow for time to cover the topics!

FREE Virtual eLearning Conference Registration

ATD Central Florida is hosting a virtual eLearning Conference on November 13th. This virtual conference is free for ANY ATD local or national member in FL or the US. Everyone else pays $15. Speakers will include Megan Torrance, Jean Marrapodi, Justin Williams, Nick Elkins and Barry Nadler.

Certification Update: ATD has announced an exciting addition to the CPLP Certification.  Starting in March 2016 the CPLP will include global competencies to meet the increasing demand of Talent Development around the globe.

Our local study group has completed the study sessions for the current exam format and will resume meetings in January to cover work product submissions.

ATD Leader's Conference - Update by Lorna Kibbey

The ATD Leader's Conference (ATD) is held every October, in Arlington, VA. This year, 306 Chapter Leaders met - representing 82 of our 112 ATD chapters.

This fall conference is a must-do for anyone who will be serving as a chapter leader. In 28 different sessions, chapter leaders had opportunities to learn about every aspect of running a successful chapter. Sessions included topics such as: succession planning, financial planning, getting ready for the presidency, road shows, membership, strategic planning, nonprofit basics, technology, coaching chapter leaders, attracting and keeping volunteers, and innovative programming.

In addition to the sessions, there were two general sessions in which everyone participated, a personal update from Tony Bingham (ATD President, pictured below), and chapter recognition. I was proud to represent our chapter as we were recognized for being a Membership Super Star (50%+ Joint Membership)!

Perhaps the most valuable part of ALC is the ample opportunity it provides for networking with other Chapter Leaders. It's wonderful to have time to talk with folks and find out they have the same problems we have - and to hear about incredible ideas we can use!

I spent my first day of ALC with a group of Chapter Leaders who signed up to go to Capitol Hill for Congressional Conversations. We visited legislators and their staff and had discussions about laws that are shaping our industry. Fascinating. The contacts I made just that day, will no doubt be long lasting.

Being a Chapter Leader has hidden rewards. If you are considering taking on a leadership role in the chapter, I'd recommend it! The time investment is worth it - the rewards are immense.

As a Sales Trainer, you will complete the on boarding process for new hires, conduct the new hire orientation, and lead training coursework in the classroom and field. Your role is to provide new hire training as well as ongoing training for all employees.

This is professional work of considerable difficulty in designing and conducting organizational development strategies, developing and administering countywide training programs while developing a new training team. While planning, coordinating and implementing a variety of employee education, training and management development programs.
