October is upon us! Some may be thinking about fall leaves, but many of us are thinking...Halloween? Oh my gosh, that means the holidays are right around the corner! Are you ready for that?
Our September meeting, presented by Shawn Overcast, a Managing Consultant with Metrics that Matter, CEB, assisted by Danny Brown (CEB), gave us an overview of how to measure the effectiveness of our training. She and Danny easily engaged the participants, as all of us have experienced the question of ROI. Shawn is a member of the Suncoast ATD chapter and we were fortunate to be able to tap into ATD's rich resources and "borrow" Shawn! The meeting attracted some new faces, and the room was buzzing!
This month, both Joanne Hartke (Director, Florida Institute of Government FGCU) and Dr. Ava Fluty (keynote speaker, trainer, and author) will be sharing what it takes be successful, what organizations are looking for in a trainer, and how to gain that "competitive edge." The presentation will be interactive and guaranteed to be one you will not want to miss!
PS: I would like to acknowledge that Rebecca Ruding, who has led our local CPLP study group, took her CPLP exam last Friday and passed! We are so proud of her and happy she has shared her time to benefit others who are considering the same path! Congratulations Rebecca!
I hope to see you at the meeting!

October Learning Event: Keeping the Competitive Edge Growing Strong...
We all want to be competitive, but what does it really take to be successful - while maintaining our passion for what we do? Whether we call ourselves trainers, consultants, talent managers, coaches, mentors...it means "developing individuals, teams, organizations in order to attract, motivate, and retain productive, engaged employees". Our shared goal for clients is to create a high-performing and sustainable approach that meets their strategic and operational goals.
Joanne, as Director of a local training Institute, and Ava, as a seasoned professional trainer and keynote speaker, will facilitate a guided discussion on how we can best support our clients in meeting/exceeding their strategic goals. This will include our thoughts (and yours) on the challenges we face in our jobs, what clients seem to be looking for in training and consulting, what specifically look for in a trainer before putting someone in front of a group, and why an independent consultant like Ava is so successful without actively marketing herself…and much more.
Hope to see you there! Be part of the discussion and we'll continue to learn and grow from each other.
