PowerPoint Pizazz

This hands-on session will introduce and showcase some simple tips and tricks for intermediate and beginner PowerPoint users. The facilitator will demonstrate how to enhance PowerPoint presentations with Smart Art, Animations, Video, and Custom Graphics and Design Templates. This session will be useful for trainers and faculty/instructors who wish to make their presentations more interesting and dynamic. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops (with PowerPoint installed) if they would like to follow along and try out the techniques during the session. Step-by-step instructions will also be provided for those who wish to watch the presentation and practice on their own later.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Convert text into graphics with SmartArt.
  • Make slides more dynamic by adding animations.
  • Embed a video on  a slide.
  • Create custom shapes and g.
  • Transform an existing template to create a custom design template.

Melissa RizzutoBio: Melissa Rizzuto is currently the Director of Faculty Development and Training for Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW). She earned her bachelor's degree in Telecommunications and Mass Media from Temple University and her master's degree in Communications from Florida State University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in education with a concentration in Educational Technology at the University of Florida.

Melissa has over ten years of experience in the field of training and development. She has worked in corporate training departments for Comcast Spotlight and Vanguard and then as an instructional designer for the School of Education at Drexel University before moving to Florida. She is currently a member of the board for the Southwest Florida chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Connect with her on social media at
