Persuasive Communication:  Developing Leadership Influence

Strong leadership is synonymous with influence and persuasive communication skills are every leader’s tools of the trade.  Being influential requires a keen external and interpersonal awareness that ensures what is being communicated is specifically targeted for the audience.

Join Dr. Brian Moffitt, owner of The Leadership Forum and adjunct Communication Professor at Keiser University as he offers strategies to develop leadership influence through persuasive communication. He will share four strategies to connect and inspire audiences on every level of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

The ability to influence others verbally and in writing is a vital skill for ATD practitioners and leaders at all levels in an organization.  In this interactive session, participants will:

  • Define persuasion and understanding your audience/listener(s)
  • Explore the different types of persuasive messages/speeches
  • Review different methods of persuasion, including credibility, evidence, reasoning, needs satisfaction, motivation and emotional appeals

This session aligns to the ATD Capabilities:

Professional Capabilities section for Career and Leadership Development
